Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
(PTSD)

Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) occurs when a person is exposed to a threat or an actual traumatic event —such as an accident, assault, military combat, or natural disaster. PTSD is characterized by involuntary, intrusive, distressing memories and severe anxiety, which may lead to flashbacks, nightmares, and uncontrollable thoughts about the painful event.
